The 68K libraries for version 1.1b1 through 1.1b5 were incompatible with the libraries from the 1.0.6/1.0.7 Open Transport releases. Because some developers have released 68K products with the libraries of these releases, it has been decided that we should modify the 1.1 68K libraries to insure compatibility with the those libraries. Because of this, any 68K code linked with the 1.1b1 through 1.1b5 libraries will not be compatible with the final 1.1 Open Transport product. The libraries with the 1.1b6 and later releases are compatible with the library from the 1.0.6/1.0.7 Open Transport releases, and will be compatible with the final 1.1 Open Transport product.

All users - NOTE:
If you are installing any product on your Macintosh, it's always a good idea to reboot your machine first, then run the installer. In addition, running Disk First Aid or other disk repair utility is always a good idea before installing, since anything wrong with your disk may become a serious problem after installation.
PowerPC users - NOTE:
If you have installed the debug version of OpenTransport on a NuBus Power Macintosh, you will ALWAYS get 2 UserBreaks when booting your machine. The first UserBreak will have no text associated with it, while the second will have the text "TLibrary::PrivateLoadSegment- Loading a Segment failed". Please do not report these as bugs. You can stop these messages from occurring by removing the file "Shared Library Manager PPC Dbg" from your extension folder and replacing it with the "Shared LibraryManager PPC" file from the non-debug installation. This will get rid of these UserBreaks, while still keeping the debug version of Open Transport installed.
MacTCP users - NOTE:
If you use an init that uses MacTCP ("Network Time" is one example) you must use the TCP/IP control panel in Advanced User mode to set TCP/IP to Load Always by unchecking the box that says "Load on Demand". Due to the nature of the MacOS, it is possible that TCP/IP will not be able to load at boot time, causing extensions that use MacTCP to not run. If this works for you, you no longer need to rename your extensions to be higher alphabetically than the "TCP/IP" control panel, since we now load TCP/IP much earlier in the boot sequence in an attempt to be able to get the System Heap to grow and load us (although it doesn't work on all configurations).
The installer will no longer delete MacTCP. Open Transport now "hides" the MacTCP control panel if it is booting. This feature allows a disk with Open Transport installed to be booted on a system that does not support Open Transport. Open Transport will automatically load "Classic" networking in this case and "unhide" the MacTCP control panel.
If you are installing over a version of Open Transport earlier than 1.0b3, you must manually remove the TCP/IP Preferences file from the "Preferences" folder in your System Folder. The current installer no longer deletes the "TCP/IP Preferences" file if it already exists, and version of the preference file earlier than 1.0b3 are NOT COMPATIBLE with the current version of the preference file. Failure to do this may cause your machine to crash when attempting to use TCP/IP.
Known Bugs/Incompatibilities
All users :
TCP/IP users :
• NFS/Share 1.3.x and 1.4 are not OpenTransport compatible. OT customers will need to get an NFS/Share update from Intercon to work with OT 1.1.
AppleTalk users :
• Open Transport is incompatible with "Assistant Toolbox" v1.2 and below. Assistant Toolbox will turn AppleTalk off at boot time. If you are having problems with AppleTalk being turned off after rebooting your machine, check for the present of this file in your Extensions folder.
• The setting "Load only when needed" has been disabled. It is not technically feasible at this time.
